Meeting Father Christmas
Father Christmas is a jolly soul, who told us about Christmas traditions in England. After his tale, he posed for a photo with me, so wanted to record this memory on a scrapbook layout.
I choose to embellish this page simply, because I wanted the photo to standout.
Paper Selection to Complement Father Christmas
The dark green in the My Mind's Eye Holly Jolly collection complements the Father Christmas' green robe, so I selected it for the background paper.
The Deck the Halls paper by My Mind's Eye is perfect, not only for it's color, but for the motif as well. Father Christmas holds a staff topped with greenery, like the greenery on this paper.
Selected this journal card to place next to the red banner, because it has green leaves and red berries on it.
Fun Photo Matting
Creative matting helps a photo standout, as does using complementary colors. I used both of these techniques on this layout.
I matted the photo on green to highlight the green in his robe, then on red paper. Green and red are complementary colors, so the two mats make the photo standout. If you'd like to know more about using color on a layout, then check out my page about color combinations.
Banner Cluster
The photo is mounted on a large banner, which I decorated with a small cluster of die cut banners.
I added three smaller banners, then dotted the cluster with a couple of gold stars. Simple, yet effective.
Title Cluster
This little cluster is also composed of a couple banners and a gold star.
In this cluster I placed a die cut banner, then layered a chipboard one over it. Finally, I added a gold die cut star to complete the small cluster.
I made a few other layouts with the Holly Jolly collection, which you can see here.
Hope you enjoyed seeing how this layout was made. You can find more of my scrapbook layouts process posts here.
